1st day of Hari Raya

Yesterday was a joyous day. For me, it was no waking up for sahur.. Here at Kuching it's at 4.30 am u know.... For lil' Nadea.. it's a day full of Kuih and tit bits... people buzzing here and there... It's like the first Raya for her cos last year she was too small to understand the celebration. The day before I helped my mum-in-law with the preparation. The menu was Kelupis (Sarawakian ketupat), Rendang Daging, kari daging, kari Ayam and Daging Masak Hitam (sarawakian dish). The cooking is to be done on Hari Raya itself. She is a wonderwoman i tell you.. On Raya morning, all the dishes are cooked when i woke up. Wonder what time she wakes up to cook 'em!

After the boys came back from Solat Raya, we proceeded with the Raya ritual.. which is Salam forgiveness Raya.. 'sob' hehe :oP

Later on.. the family just entertained the guest who came. They are mostly Chinese or relatives. It is known that the first day people usually stay at home.

To everyone.. Have a Happy Raya and truly Maaf Zahir Batin.

Events of the day

I went for buka puasa at Mandarin Oriental today with my hubby and daughter. Nadea as usual, made a mess on the table babbling I dont know what. For me, I had my wishes fulfilled.. Oyster and dim sum... So Yum couldn't ask for anything more. My hubby pulak was pretty happy with his grilled seafood and meat.

While having my dessert, I saw my long-time-no-see primary (and secondary... she reminded) school friend of mine. We used to be very good friends in standard 4... She looked so pretty and chic, her face is just the same as before, but in a mature way. Good for you sue! You look dang good!! People wouldn't know she is a mummy by looking at her... The world is so small. We keep bumping to each other at every corner! I just know her life from a distant now through her blogs..

Anyways, in the morning I went to a cookie making class. Hehehe... The chef made a statement before starting the class... "Cookie making is soo easy actually.. Was wondering why you guys requested for a class!" Duh! I guess we just want to know the techniques and the best practice for baking cookies... Previously I just mix it all in and always wonder why my cookies are either too oily, too baked, too dry or just plain flat! Now I know why!! Here are some tips that I picked up in the class:-
1. Use fresh eggs all the time. Old eggs may cause the cookies not crunchy and nice.
2. The butter that we use should not be thawed too long.. The oil should not seep out while mixing. If it does, it could cause the cookies to be flat.
3. The middle of the tray is the most hottest part of the oven. If you have some big cookies, try to put them in the middle.
There are some other tips... I will continue updating once I remember 'em back. (it's almost 2 am in the morning now)

Now all i need to do is wait for a bigger house to bake my cookies.. He he he!

A tribute to trio leaving to greener pasture

You see, I like to remain anonymous-ity in my blog, hence nick names will be used for this.
Our team has been together for in a pack of 7 for 3 years now and 3 are leaving us. Would like to dedicate some words for them. U know who you are..

A Lang- She is this quiet, sensitive girl but a very competent person when doing a task. Usually the fastest to code an e-form but at the same time the most careful. Always cheerful and seldom complain. Trustworthy. And not forgettingly, the same horoscope (or sometimes not) with me.

Bobo's Master - He is a hi-tech guy with a nonchalant style. Known for his strings of u-know-what and manja style on the phone (with u-know-who), always up for a meal testing. I believe him to be going places and doing great things, just because he has crazy, wacky and unthinkable ideas under his sleeve..

Jay D Man - He is a very helpful person who will never say no to a cry for help. Have very strong communication and negotiation skills which I only realized not so long ago. Underneath that rugged exterior, have a softer side that is rarely shown to us. Have a very bright future in PM-ing.

The remaining of us will persevere, sometimes cry, but continue to wish the best for the trios... We had our good times, and hope that we’ll cross paths always.

The hazy situation

I wanted to say that mother nature is a powerful thing due to the very bad haze over here... but i thought, wait a minute.. The haze is not a natural cause...It's actually due to open forest burning in Indonesia. Will they stop it already!! Every year without fail KL gets this hazy situation. Hopefully this year the schools won't be closed down like the last.

Domestically, my life is kind of hazy too. Career-wise, i am in a hazy junction of contemplation. Money-wise, is just gone with the haze. Family-wise, is just slight traces of haze. I hope when the haze goes away, it will bring my internal haze along.

But with all the haze around, I should be thankful that I have a career that pays, a family that cares, a body thats healthy and a laptop to type! Perhaps i should count my blessings more than my shortcomes. The haze will eventually fade, and comes a great clear sky that brings joy to all. Amin.

Why I love my Honda and Shell

I changed my car from a Proton Waja to Honda City iDsi early this year. It's all related to maintenance and oil usage.

Previously with my Waja, the maintenance is high (about 400+ for major service and 100++ for minor service), the damage is somewhat default (window, absorber, air-cond, etc) with other waja cars and the oil consumption is crazy! (can go betw 10-12 km per litre only) The last straw was when my car aircond kaput and the CD player koyak.

That weekend I straight away went to Honda Dealer to check out the City (after I heard the first 40K km is TOTAL free service). After discussing and the salesman mentioned that she could give me a better trade-in value for my Waja... I immediately book for my Honda the next day.

So far my I'm happy with my Honda. The oil consumption is very low. It's about 16 km/litre. For a full tank of 39 litres, it could go up to 700 km!! It's a vast difference with my Waja that could only go 550 kms for 45 litre of oil! Talk about murder on the highway!! I can't comment on the maintenance rate yet as now I'm on free maintenance... So I will update when there is service charge.. Probably another year!!

Ooo and I L.O.V.E. Shell oil. I think the 'more mileage' claim really works.

Anyways I dont think I will go for a Proton car again... Perodua is OK but not Proton.

The weather....

When there is a storm, with black clouds and thunder going around, you have no choice but to accept it. Either we can avoid it by running under a shade, or we can go ahead and hit the storm, or we can go someplace else where there's no storm at all.
I've been under the shade for too long. For the next storm coming, I will go ahead and hit it, fight it, embrace it..... and then go to a no-storm place.
Let's see.

Huh! What raise?

Hey check this out.... Early this week we got an official email from the CEO saying that there will be a salary raise between 2-4% due to harga barang naik (u know oil, ayam, necessities, etc.) But in the same week we got an email informing us that our new office location which we'll be moving in 2 months has no parking allotment (The current office parking is free). And we have to pay RM120 p/mth to have the season parking.
Heh.. So I did a calculation and here's the result:-
For 2% raise - Does not cover the parking charges. Even barely covers the uncovered parking which is rm90 p/m.
For 3% raise - "Just about" covers the parking cost.
For 4% raise - Covers the parking cost and the extra can cover for a lunch and dinner at KFC for one person.
SO i considered my other options:-
1. Take public transport
-That would mean a bus, and Komuter from my place. And have to give 1.5 hours travelling time. Which means I will reach home at 8pm and cook Maggi for dinner. Or buy burger downstairs.
2. Leave car at Komuter station, and proceed w Komuter.
- Not taking that option as the komuter station has potential of flooding
3. Drive to office, and pay season parking.
- Saves time, but more money on oil and parking..
Since I'm such a lazybum and have to pick up my daughter on time from nursery... I will go for option 3. So the raise will only be felt for 2 months... And that will cover for the deposit of the parking lot. :oP

I totally forgot i had this blog site!!!

I knew I had a blog site previously.. but didn't remember its address. I found it back!!
Great great!!! Am transferring my post from another site to here.. hehehehe
